Last But Not Least...Mother's Day

I just had to post about my fabulous start to Mother's Day! I woke up with little footsteps coming into our room. Morgan went straight to Dave's side of the bed and tried to wake him up (this is usually pretty difficult). She was whispering in this desperate tone letting him know that she needed help making mommy breakfast--I was really trying hard to not to peek or chuckle. He grunted that he would be up in a minute and then drifted back to sleep while Morgan left the room.

The next visitor we had was loud little Abbie who came straight to me and asked, well really yelled, if I could get up and help them make me breakfast. From the kitchen I hear an anguished yell from Morgan "Not her Abbie, Daddy!" At this point I kick Dave under the covers--I am still trying to pretend I am sleeping--and whisper threateningly that he had better get up and help, NOW!

Dave stumbled out of bed only to come back 5 minutes later to ask if cereal was okay, or if he really had to make me an egg. I told him that he had better let the girls pick.

Five minutes later he came back in to ask me how to cook an egg.

Needless to say, it was the best breakfast ever. Morgan shared my runny egg (we only had one in the house) and cold toast. Then she gave me my first real Mother's Day present. A wooden flower pin that she painted pink and yellow. See the picture above.

I can only hope that future Mother's Days are this special!
